Mission
The Gore Mountain Ski Club, supports New York Ski Education
Foundation (NYSEF), a not-for-profit junior racing
program whose mission is to support racing related and social activities for
team members, coaches, staff and their families. The club has benefited
tremendously from the experiences at Gore Mountain. Children have learned
skills that will allow them to enjoy a lifetime of skiing. In the process
they have grown more self-confident and independent.
Racing is important to our members but the NYSEF focus is on
developing fundamental skills because we believe that you have to be a great
skier in order to become a good racer.
At the younger developmental level (J IV and JV) the NYSEF
program spends much more time free skiing and working on technique than on
running gates. As the athlete's ability progresses competition can then
become a focus. We firmly believe that this philosophy produces better
skiers, better racers and young people who develop a life-long love of the
sport. To find out more about this program

Snow Day Tip!
Hey kids, did you
know you can help create a snow day! The night before a
snow storm, wear your PJ's inside out and flush one ice cube
down the toilet. These simple acts will not guarantee a
snow day, but if enough kids do it, it helps. |
